Originally from upstate Pennsylvania, Laura earned her nursing degree from Queens University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from UNC Wilmington. Prior to founding the agency, she built a diverse clinical background as a registered nurse, including pediatric nursing, orthopedic and post-operative care, home health nursing, and pain management and case management.
 

Laura’s positive attitude, approachable leadership style, and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care form the foundation of Helms Home Care’s success. She is deeply focused on delivering exceptional clinical quality while ensuring families feel supported, informed, and confident in the care they receive.
 

Outside of work, Laura enjoys running, working out, spending time with her four children—Reef, Teek, Crue, and Ambi—and watching sports with her husband.

Chris brings a strong business and operations background to Helms Home Care, holding a B.S. in Marketing and Economics from Appalachian State University. His prior management experience at ScentAir Technologies helped shape his passion for building scalable organizations through process-driven, goal-oriented development and a strong focus on customer service.

As Director of Operations, Chris oversees administrative strategy, operational efficiency, and organizational growth, ensuring the agency delivers reliable, high-quality service to clients, caregivers, and referral partners alike.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his sons, Harrison & Henry and cheering on his favorite teams, including the Carolina Panthers, St. Louis Cardinals, Appalachian State Mountaineers, and Kansas Jayhawks. He is also actively involved in charitable efforts that promote autism awareness, inclusion, and support for children with special needs.

Originally from Mt. Holly, North Carolina, Shari brings more than 13 years of combined experience in business, finance, and nursing to Helms Home Care. She began her career after earning a business degree in Information Management and working in the finance sector before pursuing nursing, where she ultimately found her true calling. Shari’s unique blend of business acumen and clinical expertise plays a vital role in the success and growth of our infusion services.

In her current role, Shari oversees our clinical team and is responsible for the training, management, and continuing education of our 400+ registered field nurses.

Outside of work, Shari enjoys singing, listening to music, and staying active through playing and watching sports with her husband and their two children, Landon and Layla.
